Staff Profile: Beth Frilingos
Elizabeth “Beth” Frilingos M.Ed, CCC-SLP
Earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, and after two years teaching children ages 12-18 months at The Goddard School for Early Childhood Development in Delaware, went on to receive her Master’s in Education in Communication Disorders from Georgia State University. Ever since teaching young children at the Goddard School, Beth has had a passion for early language development. She completed externships both in the school system and in an adult rehab facility, but was drawn back to working with children, and worked for 2 years for the Dekalb County School system. In the school system, Beth evaluated and treated children age 3 through 5th grade with Autism, Down Syndrome, articulation, language, Apraxia, oral-motor, fluency, and other developmental delays. Her experience includes work with children with hearing impairments and children using assistive and augmentative communication devices. While in the schools, Beth was particularly passionate about collaborating with classroom teachers to meet a child’s educational goals though speech and language development.
Professionally, Beth has attended conferences on Floortime, the Kauffman method, oral-motor techniques for children with limited speech, and strategies for improving communication skills in children with autism. Beth left the school system in 2008 to spend more time with her two young children. She enjoys working at PediaSpeech for the opportunity to work closely with parents in defining and meeting each child’s individual communication goals.
Beth has been married for 9 years and lives with her husband and two boys, ages 4 and 18 months, in Decatur, Georgia. As a family, they enjoy Saturday morning runs, attending The Music Class, visiting Atlanta zoos and museums, and growing an impressive array of fruits and vegetables (we hope!) this year.
